Small Business Matters
The importance of all the Small and
Medium Sized Businesses to the UK economy cannot be overstated. According to the
Sunday Times Business Editor (8th May 2005): "Small businesses are the
life blood of the British economy. There are 4m small businesses each employing
fewer than 50 people in this country. Together they account for 58% of
private-sector employment, equal to 13m people, and provide 40% of our gross
national product." He goes on to say:
"The fact is small
businesses matter. A lot. They matter not just because they create wealth,
employment and pay tax, but because they provide the business arena with fresh
ideas, entrepreneuralism and new ways of looking at the world."
The number of Small and Medium
Sized Businesses has increased to 4.5m since 2005. But the sentiment is as
relevant now as it was then. Indeed given the turbulent economic climate we now
operate in, the success of the SMEs is probably even more important to the
overall economy. And that's why our clients matter.
